Carpet Cleaning
There are many ways to clean carpets and since 1992 we have tried most methods, from dry cleaning to truck mounted systems, rotary shampooing and portable hot water extraction.
Our preferred method is portable hot water extraction, sometimes incorrectly referred to as steam cleaning.
Recent advances in pump pressure and suction mean that we can now work close to the power that we used when operating a truck mounted system, but at much lower costs, considerably less noise and without the access problems often encountered.
Dry cleaning in our opinion, is really only a carpet maintenance system and rarely achieves the cleaning results of hot water extraction. So while the carpets may dry quickly the results are often dissappointing.
Method
After carrying out a pre-clean survey and once we are satisfied the carpets are suitable for cleaning, I will discuss with the client, which items of furniture are to be moved, sliding pads are employed to move and reposition furniture (once breakables have been removed).
All areas to be cleaned will first be vacuumed to remove dry soil, hair, etc'
A pre-spray ( Woolsafe if required) will be applied and groomed in, to loosen soil prior to extraction, and any stains i.e tea, coffee, wine will be treated. Most small spots can be removed during the extraction process.
Then the carpet is rinsed using an Ashby's Ninja machine. After the cleaning process I walk through and spot clean any remaining blemishes and perform a final rinse, leaving the carpets clean and residue free.
After repositioning any furniture (on protective foil pads where necessary), I will present the client with an NCCA aftercare and stain removal guide.
Plastic overshoes can be provided on request.
Finally I will happily advise the client how to maintain their carpets and keep them looking cleaner longer.
Safety
I do request that children and pets be kept away from the equipment and cleaning area. Where possible I prefer to keep the machine outside, so please ensure that small children and pets are kept safely shut in another area. This remains the responsibility of the customer.
Care should be taken when walking from damp carpets on to hard floors.
Please refrain from from using electrical equipment near damp carpets.
We employ 'Caution Slippy Surface' notices which are left in a prominent place and I will verbally explain this hazard to clients.
